FREEDOM

“Last year alone, 243 million women and girls experienced sexual or physical violence from their partner. This year, reports of increased domestic violence, cyberbullying, child marriages, sexual harassment and sexual violence have flooded in.”
— Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of the U.N. Women Agency

Freedom, it’s the thing that speaks to my soul more than any other. The freedom to choose, to speak, to play, and to create.

Luckily I was born in a place that for the most part I have been afforded many of those opportunities without fear of being criticized or hurt. Where I have had an equal voice not only as a person, but as a woman. Not every woman has that opportunity. Not every woman can walk down the street without fear of being raped or beaten or even mutilated.

This is not okay and it must STOP! It is time for both men and women to take a stand against violence, to break the chains of dysfunctional dogma and fight for the freedom of every person on this planet. It’s at that point we will have the opportunity to share in the creations that those in bondage are yearning to express. It’s at this point that the healing of this planet can take place. Where hurt people stop hurting people and humanity can be one.
